The Wong family opened their first Welcome Restaurant in Northern Ireland in 1973. The Stranmillis restaurant was opened in 1982 by the then Lord Mayor, Tom Patton. Now in it’s second generation, it is the longest established Chinese restaurant in the country.

Charlie Wong, son of the founder, took over the restaurant in 2016 after working for over 10 years abroad in places such as USA, Bhutan, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong.

The Welcome Takeaways are now independently run by his cousins – a family business through and through. The Welcome Restaurant has won a range of awards throughout the years, including Best Belfast Restaurant, Master Chef and Egon Ronay Awards.

The translation of Chinese menu dishes sometimes varies from restaurant to restaurant, so if there is a dish of your choice that is not included in the menu, please do not hesitate to ask our staff. We cannot guarantee we can make the dish but we will try our best to cater you.

Take away service available - 20% off on Main Courses only (only available on pick up orders)*.
* Items from our Special's Menu, any dishes made to order, not on our a al carte menu and special Set Menus will not qualify for the 20% discount.

For bookings of eight people or over, a non-refundable deposit of £5 per person is applicable.
A service charge of 10% will apply to tables of 6 or more.

Special lunch and Early Bird menu is not available for takeaway.
